Connections Bulletin 1-13-2019


CONNECTIONS

Worship Service:  Pastor Ken will start a new series from the gospel of John today, on the theme of "Believe and See Great Works."

Abiding and Advancing the Kingdom of God Class:  We will begin this class today at 11:30 a.m. in E-7.  We will be using "The Upside Down Kingdom" by Donald A. Kraybill.

Creating Vibrant Communities: We are developing 7 ingredients for a vibrant community.  The word "vibrant" means full of life, full of Spirit, energetic, and dynamic.  These ingredients are:  1) Accountability, 2) Empowerment, 3) Multiplication, 4) Sharing, 5) Salvation, 6) Truth, and 7) Transformation.  It is our dream that all of us will grow in these areas in our lives through a vibrant community this year.

Family Life Vibrant Community:  We are continuing our study from the Gospel of John this Friday at 8 p.m. in E-10.  Contact John Shao at john_shao@yahoo.com for info.

Women's Vibrant Community:  We meet on the second and fourth Saturday of the month at Anni's home, 8:30 a.m. Contact Anni for more info: wonganniy@yahoo.com. The group is discussing "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.

Sunday Vibrant Community: Sundays at 1:30 p.m. at the Cheng residence.  Contact Paul at paul.c.cheng@gmail.com for info.  We will discuss "Radical Discipleship" by Edmund Chan.

Light House Vibrant Community:  Meet at Andrew and Liz's home on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Temple City. Contact Andrew at Andrewlamcpa@yahoo.com.  They are studying "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.

 

YOUTH

Sunday Service: Pastor Ben begins the new sermon series based on the gospel of Mark TODAY.  Let's learn together from Jesus' example to serve others. 

Sunday School: All Sunday classes resume at 11:30 a.m. TODAY.  Junior High students will be with Pastor Ben in E9.  Freshmen and sophomores will be with Auntie Virg and Auntie Anni in E10. Juniors and seniors will be with Dr. Glenn in the youth center.

Friday Night Fellowship: Our new FNF small group program has begun. We don't want you to miss out. Join us at 8:00 p.m. in youth center!  

Turn Your Campus 2019: A one-day training for all junior high and high school students to be a great witness at school with 40 workshops offered. It will be at Biola University on Saturday, 2/2 from 9:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost: $20/person (includes notes and lunch). Sign up with Pastor Ben TODAY!

Scrip Gift Cards & Church Meal Cards: Both scrip gift cards and church meal cards can be purchased at the courtyard/cafeteria scrip booths. Gift cards are available from a variety of places including supermarkets, retail stores, restaurants, gas stations, and more. Church meal cards are $30 for 10 meals. If you opt for a ‘green' meal card you will receive an additional two meals free for bringing your own reusable utensils and Tupperware. 

Agape Caring Center

Herald Cancer Association Seminar: San Gabriel CCHC will host a seminar titled "Walking Through Sorrow; The Promise of the Rainbow" on 1/19 (Sat) from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Mandarin.  Speaker will be Dr. Cheung, Ph.D., former associate professor of Clinical Psychology at UCLA.  The seminar will discuss the nature of bereavement and provide practical tools for walking through grief and sorrow with your loved one.

Vision Choir Retreat

Vision is looking for a host for their retreat to be held on February 1-2
